The Baojun Yep Plus is an all-electric B-segment SUV produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling under the Baojun marque. Serving as the 5-door, 5-seater long-wheelbase derivative of the Baojun Yep family, it initially hit the market in April 2024. As an annual model-year update, the 2026 iteration was officially launched on 27 May 2026 across four variants, with official retail prices ranging from RM76,800 to RM105,800, and promotional trade-in nett prices starting from as low as RM72,800 to RM100,800. The refreshed line-up introduces new 301 km and 501 km range options, upgrades the central touchscreen to 12.8 inches, and adds acoustic front double-glazed glass as standard, pushing its entry price down to the RM70,000 bracket whilst delivering enhanced overall value.
Adopting the "Square Box+" design language, the Baojun Yep Plus retains the family's distinctive, rugged, and boxy silhouette. Up front, it sports a gloss black enclosed grille flanked by four-point LED daytime running lights and integrated high/low-beam headlamp clusters, underpinned by a rugged, protruding front bumper tailored for an off-road aesthetic. The side profile preserves its retro-boxy stance, detailed with a body-coloured garnish on the C-pillar, functional roof rails, and 16-inch grey 5-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, the styling mimics the urban zebra motif and race-track taillights, complemented by a side-hinged tailgate that houses a 12-litre integrated storage box and supports an optional fold-out table.
Dimensions: It measures 3,996 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, and 1,726 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm. Five exterior colour options are offered: Deep Space Black, Shadow Grey, Aurora Green, Cloud White, and Sun Chaser Orange. The cabin features a two-tone theme in Calm Black and Elegant White, with extensive leatherette wrapping across high-touch areas like the dashboard and door armrests, spanning a soft-padded surface area of 2.24 square metres. The minimalist dashboard adopts a floating architecture, housing an 8.8-inch full LCD digital instrument cluster, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and a column-mounted electronic gear shifter.
The entire Yep Plus range is powered by a front-mounted single electric motor driving the front wheels, producing 75 kW (approx. 102 PS) and a peak torque of 180 Nm through a single-speed reduction gear transmission, with a top speed rated at 150 km/h. Battery options include three lithium iron phosphate (LFP) packs from Sunwoda with capacities of 31.9 kWh, 41.9 kWh, and 54 kWh, delivering CLTC electric ranges of 301 km, 401 km, and 501 km, respectively. A lifetime warranty on the high-voltage EV powertrain is extended to the first private non-commercial owner.
Charging: The 401 km and 501 km variants support DC fast charging from 30% to 80% SOC in 30 minutes, whilst AC regular charging takes between 6 and 7.5 hours. The 301 km variant takes 35 minutes on a DC fast charger. A 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power output feature is standard across the range. Kerb weight ranges between 1,255 kg and 1,410 kg depending on the trim level.
Underneath, the chassis employs a front MacPherson strut independent suspension and a rear torsion beam semi-independent setup with coil springs. Braking is handled by front ventilated discs and rear solid discs, paired with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold. It rides on 205/60 R16 tyres. Steering is managed by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system; under full load, the vehicle offers a minimum ground clearance of 150 mm, a turning radius of 5.35 m, an approach angle of 22°, and a departure angle of 32°. Drive modes include Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport, alongside a 3-level selectable regenerative braking system (Comfort, Standard, and Strong).
The key cabin upgrade is the larger 12.8-inch floating infotainment screen (up from 10.1 inches), which runs an updated UI complete with DTS sound processing, dedicated Camping Mode, Nap Mode, and real-time traffic light countdown integration in the navigation system. The AI-powered voice assistant supports multiple commands in a single breath as well as regional dialects. A 540° panoramic surround-view monitor with a transparent underbody view is standard-fit across the range.
Comfort equipment: Front acoustic double-glazed glass comes standard, complemented by 34 sound-deadening packages across the car to suppress NVH levels. The seats are finished in leatherette, with a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat and a 4-way manual front passenger seat fitted as standard. Cabin dimensions stand at 2,682 × 1,334 × 1,252 mm, boasting an efficient space utilisation rate of 67%, with 1,061 mm of rear headroom and 870 mm of rear legroom. There are 28 storage cubbies scattered throughout the interior, and boot space expands up to 1,715 litres with the rear seats folded down.
Active and passive safety: The model gets ABS with EBD, Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-start Assist, and dual front SRS airbags as standard. It is built around a high-strength steel cage body shell to ensure rigid occupant protection. The flagship 501km Zhizun Edition gains the Lingmou Intelligent Driving Assistance package (Level 2 semi-autonomous driving) powered by 20 smart sensors, supporting Highway Navigation Pilot (NOA), Urban Memory Navigation, full-scenario automated park assist (one-touch 30-second parking), and multi-storey memory valet parking.
The Yep Plus acts as Baojun's prime contender in the affordable sub-compact EV segment. The 2026 iteration delivers stronger value-for-money through an outright price slash of RM17,000, bringing the flagship variant down to just over RM100,000 with promotional trade-in rebates. Monthly deliveries peaked at around 4,854 units in late 2025. Moving into early 2026, volumes softened to 1,763 units in January, 1,069 units in February, and 763 units in March, yet consistently held an average around the 1,000-unit mark. It goes head-to-head against rivals like the BYD Yuan UP and Chery iCAR 03.
In terms of market feedback, buyers widely praise its quirky, boxy design, class-leading interior packaging, responsive 12.8-inch smart cockpit, and the long-distance usability provided by the 501 km battery pack. Criticisms are mainly directed at its compact proportions (being a notch smaller than mainstream B-segment competitors), the omission of Level 2 ADAS on entry and mid-tier grades, and the rudimentary bump absorption of the rear torsion beam suspension over rough, broken tarmac. On the whole, the Yep Plus stands out as a high-value, practical urban electric runabout that blends distinctive retro-futuristic styling with functional cabin versatility and flexible range options, carving out a sharp identity in the RM70,000 to RM100,000 EV bracket.
